    Katherine Hernandez—Scarborough High School

    Katherine Hernandez has been active in College Forward, the Environmental Club, and the Name That Book Club. She is also a member of the leadership and volleyball teams. Hernandez lists English as her favorite subject, and she plans to attend Texas A&M University, where she will pursue a degree in international studies.

    Hernandez attended Benbrook Elementary and a middle school in Aldine ISD before coming to Scarborough. She is on the Honor Roll and has been recognized as the Most Improved Student, Most Outstanding Student, and Orange Pride winner (volleyball). In her spare time, Hernandez enjoys reading, helping out at her church, and volunteering at the Houston SPCA.

    Yessica Diaz—Scarborough High School

    Yessica Diaz plans to pursue a degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University, which has already offered her a Community Connection Scholarship. She attended K. Smith Elementary and Clifton Middle schools before coming to Scarborough. Her favorite subject is mathematics.

    Diaz is a member of the National Honor Society, Environment Club, and College Forward. She has also been active on the girls’ soccer team. Diaz is an Honor Roll student who has been recognized as Most Improved Student and for maintaining a perfect-attendance record. In her spare time, she enjoys jogging, cooking, and playing soccer.
