    Christine Nguyen—Sharpstown High School 

    Christine Nguyen, a product of Neff Elementary and Sharpstown Middle schools, plans to pursue a degree in computer science at Austin College, from which she has already received a $76,000 Founders’ Scholarship. She lists her favorite subject as mathematics, and she enjoys drawing, gaming, and creating crafts.

    Nguyen is an Honor Roll student who has been active in University Interscholastic League (UIL) activities. She also serves as a teaching assistant, and she was the Anime Club president for two years. Nguyen has been recognized for her performance in accounting and computer applications.

    Gustavo Avellaneda—Sharpstown High School

    Gustavo Avellaneda attended White Elementary and Sharpstown Middle schools before coming to Sharpstown. He is a member of the Key Club, Ecology Club, and Healthy Eating/Cooking Club. He has also been active on his school’s varsity baseball and cross country teams. He lists his favorite subject as mathematics, and his hobbies as drawing and playing baseball and soccer.

    Avellaneda plans to attend Concordia University in Austin, where he will pursue a degree in computer science. He is an Honor Roll student who has been recognized as Most Artistic Student and been named to all-district baseball team twice. He has also received recognition for maintaining a perfect-attendance record.
