• How to Enroll

    To register and enroll your child in the school that he or she is zoned to attend, you will need the following:

    • The child’s birth certificate or other proof of age and identity;
    • Proof of your identity and residential address (driver’s license and utility bill); and
    • A record of your child’s current immunizations signed by a doctor.
    Your child may be eligible to enroll provisionally if the required immunization process has begun. Texas law requires that a child must be enrolled by the child’s parent or guardian or another person with legal control of the child under a court order. It also requires the district to record the name, address, and date of birth of the person enrolling the student.

    Resources and social services to support the whole child

    Through the Every Community Every School initiative, HISD is connecting schools to non-academic supports and community resources to improve the well-being and academic achievement of all students. Often called wraparound services, these non-academic supports address challenges that can have adverse effects on a student’s readiness and ability to learn. When provided in tandem with strong academics and high-quality teaching, schools can truly meet the needs of the whole child.

    Expanding access to fine arts

    HISD views every student as an emerging artist. The arts are vital to the development of the whole child and hold a significant role in the development of critical thinking, responsible decision making, and cultural awareness. HISD’s K-12 Fine Arts Department is working to expand fine arts program across the district to ensure all students can develop emotionally and socially through the arts.
