Superintendent F. Mike Miles is requesting feedback from
educators, families & community stakeholdersAs Superintendent Miles continues to implement the Destination 2035 vision for HISD, he is seeking feedback on an important component of that plan. Beginning in the 2023 – 2024 school year, the district is adapting its principal evaluation systems for all campuses, including New Education System (NES) and NES-Aligned schools. HISD’s proposed evaluation system for principals hopes to accurately measure a principal’s effectiveness and compensate them appropriately. The new system, Leader Effectiveness and Development System (LEAD), for 23-24 will consider four areas to assess principal effectiveness: Student Achievement, Quality of Instruction, Special Education, and the School Action Plan.
As we begin to plan for implementation, the district is seeking feedback from each campus’s Site Based Decision-making Committee (SDMC) and other interested parties to inform the development of the evaluation systems. You can read the details of each system and provide feedback by accessing the links below.
The new principal evaluation system is described here.
We are capturing feedback on these systems via survey.

Please submit all feedback by August 25th, 2023.
