Proposed Academic Calendar for the 2024-2025 School Year

HISD released its proposed academic calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. For the first time in many years, the District will have a calendar that puts kids first and provides the learning time our students need. The proposed calendar seen below was developed in partnership with staff and the community, and this final version reflects much of the feedback HISD received.

The District Advisory Committee (DAC), Principal Advisory Committee (PAC), and Teacher Advisory Committee (TAC) deserve a huge thank you for their work. They previewed four potential academic calendars and provided thoughtful input that influenced the creation of two final proposed calendars for the HISD community to weigh in on. As always, the District is grateful for the diverse perspectives of the DAC, PAC, and TAC members, and the time and energy they devote to supporting HISD students.

Thank you as well to the more than 4,000 employees and community members who provided feedback on the two final proposed calendars. Their input directly informed the final version that was presented to the School Board. As a result of their input, HISD will have an academic calendar that represents the priorities and values of the broader HISD community, and this will guide planning for calendars in the future as well.

The calendar will not be final until the School Board approves it. The School Board is scheduled to consider the calendar at their February 8th meeting.
