• Over the last year, Houston Independent School District (HISD) delivered significant progress in student achievement by elevating instructional quality across the district and embracing a comprehensive transformation model at "New Education System" (NES) schools. By providing better instruction and professional development for educators, schools in HISD made dramatic improvements.

The number of “A” and “B”  rated schools increased by 82%, from 93 in 2023 to 170 in 2024. Meanwhile, the number of “D” and “F” rated schools fell by nearly two-thirds, from 121 schools in 2023 to 41 in 2024.

In 2023, only 11 NES schools received “A” or “B” ratings. In the latest ratings, 53 NES campuses now earn an “A” or “B” rating, a remarkable 480% increase.

Congratulations to all our students, teachers, and principals on the tremendous academic growth. We will continue to build on the progress we've made to provide students with the quality education they need and deserve.
