FRIGHT CLUB

Let us introduce you to Burbank Middle School’s newest published authors! 

It so happens that some of our students have been participating in Ms. Derhiava Gibson’s Creative Writing Class this year, finding a perfect outlet for their creativity. One of their classroom activities was entering a writing competition sponsored by Young Writers USA, a subsidiary of Young Writers UK. 

According to their website,

      “Young Writers was established in 1991 in a warehouse in Eastern England and has blossomed into a worldwide brand! We promote poetry and creative writing in children aged 5-18 by offering free resources and competitions for teachers, parents, and writers.

       For our latest contest, we asked middle and high school students to create spine-chilling stories. Here at Young Writers, our objective has always been to help children and young adults discover the joys of poetry and creative writing. Few things are more encouraging to the aspiring writer than seeing their own work in print.”

It is precisely in this competition, “Fright Club”, that our students experienced to joy of seeing their entries published. We have reproduced them below for your reading pleasure. Enjoy!
