Myriam Compean—Davis High School
Myriam CompeanMyriam Compean is a product of Janowski Elementary and Burbank Middle Schools. She lists calculus as her favorite subject, and she plans to study pharmaceutical science at the University of Texas at Austin. Compean is the recipient of a Longhorn Opportunity Scholarship, a Top Ten Percent Scholarship, an Opportunity Scholarship from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and a Mary Gibbs Jones Scholarship from the Houston Endowment.
Compean has earned both Pre-Advanced Placement English and Magnet Student of the Year awards. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Honor Roll, and the yearbook staff. She is also active in Big Brothers Big Sisters, the culinary arts program, and as a volunteer at the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. In her spare time, Compean enjoys volunteering and playing tennis and volleyball.
Christian RussellChristian Russell—Davis High School
Christian Russell is a member of the National Honor Society, the Mathematics Club, Mu Alpha Theta (a math honor society), and the Science Club. He is also active in University Interscholastic League competitions and he has been named an Advanced Placement Scholar with Honors, as well as Student of the Year in Art History, Advanced Placement U.S. History, and English III.
Russell attended schools in Spring Branch ISD before coming to Davis. He lists biology as his favorite subject and he plans to pursue a degree in nursing at the University of Texas at Austin. Russell is the recipient of a Project GRAD Scholarship and a Longhorn Opportunity Scholarship. In his spare time, he enjoys running, traveling, and exploring new technologies.
