    Tien Nguyen attended a primary school in Pasadena ISD and Stevenson Middle School before graduating from EECHS. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the 2012 Leadership Club, and she has been included on both her school's Honor Roll and the Houston Community College's Dean's List.

    Nguyen plans to pursue a double major in psychology and engineering at the University of Houston, from which she has already received an Academic Excellence Scholarship. She lists her favorite subject as math, and in her spare time, she enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with friends and family.

    Rosie Ortiz—East Early College High School

    Rosie Ortiz, who will be the first member of her family to attend college, is a product of J.R. Harris Elementary and Stevenson Middle Schools. She lists calculus and statistics as her favorite subjects, and she plans to major in engineering at the University of Houston using the Academic Excellence Scholarship she received. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, playing the piano, and practicing martial arts.

    A member of the National Honor Society, the Student Council, the ACE Mentor Program of America, and the Youth Development Club, Ortiz has also been active in her school's choir and track team. The Honor Roll student has been recognized for her exemplary academic performance in history, calculus, chemistry, and writing, and she was also honored for maintaining a perfect attendance record.
