    Dayza Monson is a member of the College Club, the Boys and Girls Club, and the varsity girls' softball team. She plans to pursue a degree in psychology at the University of Texas at Austin using the Mary Gibbs Jones Scholarship she received.

    Monson lists her favorite subject as mathematics. She has been on her school's Honor Roll and has maintained perfect attendance for the past two years. Monson is a product of Bastian Elementary and Hartman Middle Schools. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, writing poetry, and making films.

    George Smith Jr.—Sterling High School

    Sterling High SchoolGeorge Smith Jr. attended schools in Aldine ISD before enrolling at Sterling. He plans to attend the University of North Texas (UNT), where he will major in one of his favorite subjects: aviation science. Smith was the first Sterling student this school year to complete a solo flight. He earned his pilot's license in February. In his spare time, Smith enjoys traveling, flying, and participating in simulated business management exercises.

    Smith is an Honor Roll student who has received an Emerald Eagle Scholarship from UNT, a Jesse H. Jones Scholarship from the Houston Endowment, and a Metropolitan Scholarship from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He has been active in the Aviation Club, the Legacy Club, Inventing Future Fashions, and the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Student Council, and he is the recipient of a Class Act Award from KIAH-TV Channel 39.
