The Virtual School Department is not a home-schooling program. However, we support parents who have made the decision to home school their children by allowing them to purchase courses with access to a Texas Certified Teacher. As a home schooling parent, parents are responsible for determining what courses their students will complete and when. It is also the responsibility of the parent to become informed about formal procedures in order for credits to be accrued and counted towards graduation.
If a student is home schooled temporarily due to illness, or other events that prevent him or her from attending the campus, it is the responsibility of the parent to communicate with the student's school for credit counseling and establishing a return date.
We encourage every parent to learn about their options and procedures to home school their children and recommend the Texas Home School Coalition as a place to start.
