Diana Ruan—Bellaire High School
Diana Ruan, who enjoys cooking, baking, and eating her creations, attended the Horn Academy and T. H. Rogers Middle School before graduating from Bellaire. Her favorite subjects are economics, biology, chemistry, and psychology, and she plans to pursue a degree in biochemistry from Columbia University in the fall.
Ruan is active in her school’s Key Club, science fair, and University Interscholastic League activities related to science. She is also a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas (Houston Branch) Student Board of Directors, and she has been awarded a Rabi Fellowship from Columbia University and a National Merit Scholarship.Katherine FangKatherine Fang—Bellaire High School
Katherine Fang attended schools in Pearland ISD before enrolling at Bellaire. She serves as editor-in-chief of her school’s Three Penny Press newspaper and secretary of the City of Houston Mayor’s Youth Council. She is the recipient of a National Merit Scholarship. In her spare time, Fang enjoys hiking, making tea, and learning different languages.
Fang is the recipient of the Princeton Prize in Race Relations, gold medals for flash fiction and poetry from Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and summer scholarships to Morocco and Korea through the National Security Language Initiative for Youth and Korea-US Youth Network. She lists her favorite subjects as calculus and Arabic, and she plans to pursue a degree in international security and economics at Yale University.
