Cynthia Koboo—Davis High School
Cynthia Koboo plans to pursue a degree in pre-medicine from Baylor University using the Project GRAD Houston and Jones Scholarships she received. She attended elementary school in Des Moines, Iowa, and Sharpstown Middle School before graduating from Davis. Koboo lists her favorite subject as biology, and she is a member of the National Honor Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Koboo enjoys reading, running, and braiding hair professionally. She was also a participant in Cornell University’s Summer Program for High School Students. Koboo has been named Student of the Year in Advanced Placement (AP) calculus, AP French, and U.S. history. Jorge Piñeda, who will study petroleum engineering at the University of Texas at Austin this fall, is a graduate of Ketelsen Elementary and Marshall Middle schools. He lists his favorite subject as mathematics, and in his spare time, he enjoys creating films, editing videos, and playing video games.
Piñeda has been named Student of the Year in Advanced Placement English, world history, and Audio-Visual Production. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, and he has received a letter jacket through the school’s Academic Letterman program for maintaining a “straight A” average. Piñeda is the recipient of Project GRAD Houston and Regents’ Scholarships.
