    Yaziel Zamora—East Early College High School

     

    Yaziel Zamora is a product of Sánchez and Dávila Elementary and Ortíz Middle schools. He plans to major in chemical or electrical engineering at Rice University. Zamora lists his favorite subjects as mathematics and science, and his hobbies as playing football, baseball, soccer, and billiards.

     

    Zamora is an Honor Roll student who serves as a peer tutor and has been recognized for maintaining perfect attendance. He has also been named the Best Advanced Placement Biology Student and the Best Advanced Placement World History Student. Zamora is the recipient of an Opportunity Scholarship from the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.

    Alexis Mata—East Early College High School

     

    Alexis Mata, who says his favorite subject is calculus, enjoys playing soccer, watching movies, and playing video games in his spare time. He attended a private elementary school and Ortiz Middle school before coming to East Early College.

     

    Mata is an Advanced Placement Scholar who is active on his school’s soccer team. He hopes to obtain a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
