• Deniria Cornejo—Energized for STEM West (tie)

     

    Deniria Cornejo plans to attend the University of Houston-Downtown and study criminal justice. She was vice president of the Name That Book Club and served as a Junior Achievement Teacher for a Day in 2011. Cornejo lists her favorite subject as reading. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and going for walks.

     

    Cornejo attended Rodriguez Elementary and Pershing Middle schools before graduating from E-STEM West. She received recognition for commended performance in history, English, science, and math on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills. Cornejo was also the recipient of the “Pope’s Medal” for being the best student in a particular teacher’s class.

     


    Jennifer Sánchez—Energized for STEM West (tie)

     

    Jennifer Sánchez plans to attend the Texas Women’s University and study nursing. Her favorite subject is reading, and she has been recognized for commended performance in reading, science, and social studies on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills. Sanchez was also included on her school’s Honor Roll.

     

    Sanchez attended Energized for ExcelAlence before coming to E-STEM. She has been active in the school’s tutoring program, the Tommy Tunes Club, and the Name That Book Club, on which she served as president. In her spare time, Sanchez enjoys reading, listening to music, and shopping.
