    Alexander Markos—High School for the Performing and Visual Arts

     

    Alexander Markos attended Lovett Elementary and Lanier Middle schools before coming to HSPVA. He plans to pursue a degree in his favorite subject, history, from either Houston Baptist University or Hope College, both of which have already offered him scholarships. He is also the recipient of a Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship, and he lists some of his hobbies as camping, reading, and playing the trumpet.

     

    Markos is a member of the National Honor Society, the Wind Ensemble, the Orchestra, and the Jazz Ensemble. He is also active in Fusion (a faith-based club) and Quiz Bowl activities. Markos has been named an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction and has been recognized for his outstanding performance in algebra II, music, and world geography. He has earned the ranking of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America.

    Jessica Lindee—High School for the Performing and Visual Arts

     

    Jessica Lindee, who will pursue a degree in natural science from the University of Texas at Austin, attended Red Elementary and Lanier Middle schools before coming to HSPVA. She has received recognition for outstanding performance in chemistry, geometry, biology, Spanish, and physics. She has also been named a Texas Music Scholar and a Ruth Red Chorale Award winner.

     

    Lindee is a member of the National Honor Society. She was named to the regional and all-state choirs, and she has been active in the Camerata and Pandora’s Box clubs. Lindee lists her favorite subject as physics, and in her spare time, she enjoys baking, surfing the Internet, and creating arts and crafts.
