    Sara Holland—Lamar High School

                          

    Sara Holland, who enjoys cooking, swimming, and taking exercise classes, is a graduate of Briargrove Elementary and Lanier Middle schools. She is active in her school’s varsity lacrosse and volleyball teams. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, and she is the recipient of a Jones Scholarship from the Houston Endowment.

     

    Holland cites her favorite class as biology, and she intends to pursue a degree in pre-medicine at Washington and Lee University. She has been recognized with a number of awards for her performance in lacrosse, including All-State Lacrosse, U.S. Lacrosse Academic All-American, and Under Armour Lacrosse Underclassmen All-American.







    Ge Yan—Lamar High School

     

    Ge Yan plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in medical laboratory science. She serves as historian of the National Honor Society and she is active in the Chinese Club, which she also founded.

     

    A product of HISD schools, Yan attended Wilson Montessori and Lanier Middle School before graduating from Lamar. She lists her favorite subject as mathematics, and in her spare time, she enjoys reading, scrapbooking, and volunteering at the Chinese Community Center.
