    Selena Alvarado—Milby High School

     

    Selena Alvarado plans to study civil engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. A product of HISD, she attended Garden Villas Elementary and Hartman Middle schools. Alvarado lists her favorite subject as calculus, and she enjoys reading, drawing, and listening to music in her spare time.

     

    Alvarado serves as president of the National Honor Society, secretary of the History Honor Society, and treasurer of the Science Honor Society, the Math Honor Society, and the Spanish Honor Society. She has won awards for her performance at both science fairs and University Interscholastic League competitions. She is also the recipient of a Jones Scholarship from the Houston Endowment and a Metropolitan Scholarship from the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.

    Riky Enríquez—Milby High School

     

    Riky Enríquez plans to pursue a degree in petroleum engineering at the University of Houston. He attended Dávila Elementary and Deady Middle schools before enrolling at Milby, and he lists his favorite subject as mathematics. In his spare time, Enríquez enjoys exercising, playing the violin, and solving math problems.

     

    Enríquez is an Honor Roll student who is a member of the National Honor Society and Mariachi Quetzal. He has also been active in an Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) externship and University Interscholastic League competitions, through which he has earned recognition for his performance in math. He is the recipient of a scholarship from the IPAA/Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association.
