• Jesse Soto—Sterling High School

     

    Jesse Soto is a member of the National Honor Society, the Aviation Club, and the jazz band. He attended J. P. Henderson Elementary and Edison Middle schools before coming to Sterling, and he hopes to pursue a degree in aviation science at Texas Southern University using the Presidential and Jones (Houston Endowment) Scholarships he has received.

     

    Soto has been recognized for his outstanding performance in music. He lists his favorite subject as English, and a few of his hobbies as playing the guitar, taking photographs, and flying planes.

    Darren Johnson—Sterling High School

     

    Darren Johnson is active on the National Honor Society and the football team. He has also been included on his school’s Honor Roll. Johnson lists his favorite subject as mathematics. He plans to attend the United States Naval Academy, where he will launch a career in the military.

     

    Johnson attended schools in Port Arthur and McAllen ISDs before enrolling at Sterling. He lists some of his hobbies as playing football and video games, and spending time with his family and friends.
