Dear HISD Community:

When I started my time with the Houston Independent School District, it was important to me that I get to know the community. For the past two months, I've been visiting campuses and facilities across the district—almost daily—to get a feel for what this district provides and where it needs to go in the future.

Now I'm preparing to take the next step in that journey with a series of town hall meetings. For the next several weeks, I am going to hold the Listen & Learn discussions at locations across HISD. The primary focus of these meetings is not my ideas on how to move this district forward, but rather a chance for me to do exactly what the name suggests—listen and learn.

It is essential that we listen to you—the parents and community of HISD—about what direction this district should take. From the beginning, I have said that I want to work authentically with people and organizations who have traditionally been left out of the shared leadership of HISD. I want to create a place at the table for everyone who wants or needs to be heard.

Together, we will work to support everyone's interests on behalf of students and prove that all voices matter in finding ways to make a meaningful difference. You are the first step in creating a plan for HISD, and I hope you can be a part of it.

On this page, you'll find a list of the meetings we will be hosting—both in-person and virtually—throughout the next few weeks. I hope that you can attend one of these meetings so we can all listen and learn from one another.

The meetings will be held at the locations and times listed on this page.

In accordance with district health and safety protocols, social distancing will be observed, and masks will be required at all times during the town hall meetings.
