Early childhood education offers our youngest learners strong foundations built on solid academic concepts, as well as individual and group discovery.

HISD has 155 elementary campuses with Pre-K that provide nurturing environments for young learners to reach their highest potential, as well as 8 Early Childhood Centers (ECC) which cater specifically to our youngest learners.

All elementary schools will be participating in two application fairs to assist parents with the application process for prekindergarten three ways, In-Person, Virtually, and Over the Phone to ensure families have one-on-one options. The events will take place on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to noon and Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Families can receive application assistance one of three ways:

• In person: Walking into any participating HISD Pre-k campus or Early Childhood Center with all required documents

• Phone: Calling the HISD hotline at 713-556-4826

• Virtual: Joining the information session below and/or book a 15 minute consultation with one of our team members

Required enrollment documents include:

• Copy of child’s birth certificate
• Child’s immunization record 
• Proof of address (utility bill dated within 30 days)
• Photocopy of parent ID (expired is acceptable)
  
• Proof of income, if needed (current pay stub, tax return, TANF or SNAP eligibility letter)

Support will be available virtually and on the phone in English and Spanish.
