Kenberlee Lawson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Louisiana State University Shreveport in Shreveport, LA where she originates, and an MBA in Marketing and Advertising from the University of St. Mary in Kansas. Kenberlee is also a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force Reserve where she serves as an Airman and Family Readiness Sr. NCO. Upon return from a deployment shortly after Kenberlee completed her undergraduate degree, Kenberlee began her career in higher education at LSU Shreveport. She worked as an Enrollment Services Coordinator within the admissions and registrar’s department and then moved into the role of Associate Director of Admissions just before the completion of her graduate degree. After two years at LSU Shreveport, Kenberlee relocated to Houston, TX where she accepted the role of Graduate Coordinator at University of Houston Downtown. Continuing in her higher education career and adding to her student support experience, Kenberlee transitioned into the role of Associate Program Director for the largest MBA program in Houston.
Uncovering her passion to continue a career education by providing equity to underserved communities, Kenberlee sought out ways to do just that by facilitating diversity and inclusion intensive trainings, and finally, joining the ROSES project at HISD. Kenberlee enjoys serving the community in various ways by participating as a member of the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals, serving as an active committee member at her church, The Luke in Humble, and participating in various community service efforts around the city. Supporting the effort in providing educational, professional, and personal resources to underrepresented communities is important to Kenberlee because she believes that everyone has the ability to live out their full potential and breakthrough barriers!
