Take Part in a Web Chat on the HISD Schools Bond
Have a question about HISD’s $1.89 billion bond proposition? Join us on Friday, Oct. 26, from noon to 1 p.m. for a live web chat to discuss the plan to rebuild and modernize the city’s high schools, as well as provide safety and technology upgrades at campuses across the district.
On hand for the chat will be district administrators, who will tackle any bond-related topic, from suggested improvements at specific schools to construction logistics.
The goal is to make sure voters have all the information they need before heading to the polls, whether it’s during the early voting period that ends on Nov. 2 or on Election Day.
Questions may be sent in advance here by emailing bondinfo@houstonisd.org.
Besides providing new campuses for 20 high schools, the measure would renovate or partially replace eight others. In addition, the bond would include funding to build three new elementary schools and convert five elementary schools into K-8 campuses. Dowling Middle School would get a new building and Grady Middle would receive a new addition to complete its renovation.
Other highlights of the bond include:
- $44.7 million to replace regional field houses and improve athletic facilities
- $35 million to renovate middle school restrooms
- $17.3 million for district-wide safety and security improvements
Please join the web chat on Friday. Until then, additional bond-related information can be found at www.houstonisd.org/2012bond.
