District to Host Parent Involvement Conference, Transition Fair February 26
Learn about community resources for children with special needs
February 01, 2011
HISD’s Office of Special Education Services will sponsor two annual districtwide events on Saturday, February 26: the Parents of Preschool Children with Disabilities (PPCD) Parent Involvement Conference and the Annual Transition Fair for students with disabilities.
Both events will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center, 4400 West 18th Street (77092).
Parents and families of children with disabilities, ages three to twenty-one, are encouraged to attend.
The PPCD Parent Involvement Conference will provide fun, multi-sensory activities and instructional materials for use at home to increase developmental skills in all academic areas. Parents will also receive information about community resources for young children.
The Transition Fair for parents and families of elementary-, middle-, and high-school students with moderate to severe disabilities can learn how to help their children while in school and make plans for after graduation.
Downloadable flyers are available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese (.pdf). For more information, contact the Office of Special Education at 713-556-7025.
