Local Volunteers Descend on Revere MS as Part of Project 180

Church initiative asks congregation members to volunteer three hours of their time

April 20, 2011

Hundreds of volunteers from Grace Presbyterian Church volunteered at HISD’s Paul Revere Middle School April 16 as part of the local church’s annual Project 180 service program. Project 180 was created by the church’s mission outreach department in 2006 and encourages members to volunteer three hours (or 180 minutes) on a local outreach project.

Church members painted, landscaped, remodeled, and did carpentry work at Revere while students were treated to a complimentary soccer clinic, followed by a community lunch and a festival.

For the past three years, church volunteers have spent countless hours at Revere, volunteering not only as part of Project 180, but through various other programs. Recently the church matched a $100,000 grant from the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation, which will go toward a new ceiling, seating, sound and lighting systems, painting, and other upgrades to the school’s auditorium.
