HISD Board of Education President Paula Harris has been nominated to the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce (GHWCOC) Hall of Fame.

To be considered, nominees must have contributed significantly to the advancement of women and improved the quality of life for future generations of Houstonians in one or more of six areas. Harris meets the criteria in several categories, including education, business, engineering, and community service.

“Mrs. Harris serves as a role model for women of all ages, is a trailblazer, a leader, and a volunteer extraordinaire,” said GHWCOC founder and President Suzan Deison.

Paula Harris was first elected to the HISD Board of Education in 2007 and was elected President of the Board in January 2011. Mrs. Harris is the Director of Community Affairs at Schlumberger and is the author of a children’s book on engineering.

The 2011 Hall of Fame Induction Gala is scheduled for December 8.
