New state assessment tool to be administered to students for first time in March

Members of HISD’s Board of Education learned more about the upcoming transition from the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) to the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) during a workshop held on July 21.

Members of HISD’s Board of Education learned more about the upcoming transition from the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) to the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) during a workshop held on July 21.
The new exams won’t be administered to HISD students until March, but HISD has been preparing for the transition since early 2010, and the district will be launching a new STAAR website for parents and the community in early August.
