Seven Candidates to Vie for Four Board of Education Seats This Fall

Incumbent Trustee Carol Mims Galloway withdraws from race

Seven candidates have filed for four Houston Independent School District Board of Education trustee positions that will be voted on this fall.
  • In District 2, incumbent Trustee Carol Mims Galloway filed for the position, but withdrew her filing on the afternoon of September 7. Candidate Rhonda Renay Skillern-Jones was the only other candidate to file for the post.
  • In District 3, incumbent Trustee Manuel Rodríguez Jr. will run again. He is being challenged by Ramiro G. Fonseca.
  • In District 4, current Board President Paula Harris will be opposed by Davetta Mills Daniels.
  • In District 8, incumbent Trustee Juliet Stipeche will be opposed by Dorothy Marie Olmos.

The general election is scheduled for November 8, 2011.
