• HISD @HOME Summer 2020

  • The district is planning for more than 40,000 students to participate in online summer instruction via Microsoft Teams with a teacher. Students will attend virtual summer school Monday through Thursday, and attendance will be two hours for students in grades PK-2, three hours for students in grades 3-5, and four hours for students in grades 6-11. Attendance by each grade level will include time students spend in live lessons with their summers school teacher, in small-group live lessons with teachers, and on assigned digital resources.

Paper-based summer instructional packets will be mailed out or made available to summer school students with identified technology and/or internet challenges. Students will be asked to submit completion of work to their campus during the last week of summer school.

The Curriculum department is creating lessons in math and reading for grades PK-7th. Students in 8th grade will receive instruction in reading, math, science and social studies. High school students can take up to 3 credit recovery courses, up to 3 original credit courses (pre-approved by the campus principal) or can take courses in strategic reading and math instruction, biology and world history acceleration courses
