Laptop
Signing in:
- If a student is signing into the network for the first time, they MUST sign in on an HISD device while at an HISD campus.
- When signing into an HISD laptop, please enter the student's username followed by the student's password.
- If you need assistance with the student's login information, please contact the campus FastPass representative, who can assist with login credentials.
Office365 / Teams:
- When signing into Office365, please enter the student's full email address followed by the student's password.
- Note - Office apps (Teams, Word, Excel, etc) can be accessed using a web browser or the installed apps.
The HUB / Clever
- When signing into the HUB, please enter the student's full email address followed by the student's password.

iPad
Signing in:
- When signing into an iPad, please enter the student's full email address followed by the student's password.

If you receive an error when signing into Office 365 on an iPad, try updating this setting:
Go to the Settings app on the iPad desktop > Go to Safari > Privacy & Security > and turn off "prevent cross-site tracking" and "block all cookies".
The HUB / Clever
- When signing into the HUB, please enter the student's full email address followed by the student's password.
- Note - for best performance, please use the Clever app to access Clever.
Parents

Parent Portal - Access IDs
- The Access ID for the Parent Portal is a unique 6-digit code (all letters) and a unique password (all numbers); this is NOT the same as the student ID.
- If a parent needs access to more than one student, they will need a unique Access ID and password for each student.
- Please contact the campus Registrar or Student Information Rep for your student's Access ID

Parent Portal - Login
First Login
- Using any internet browser, go to houstonisd.org/public
- Click on the Create Account tab
- Click on the blue Create Account button
- In the Parent Account Details section, enter the following information:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
- Re-enter your email address
- Desired username (the username that you will use to login)
- Password (the password that you will use to login
- Re-enter your new password
- In the Link Students to Account section, enter the following information:
- Student’s full name
- Access ID - this is the Access ID provided by the campus (6 letters). This is NOT the same as the student’s ID number
- Access password - this is the password provided by the campus (6 numbers). This is NOT the same as the student’s password.
- Relationship – your relationship to the student
- Repeat steps a-e for any additional students that need to be added. Remember – each student has a unique Access ID and password
- Click the blue Enter button at the bottom of the page.
Future logins:
Once you have successfully registered, follow these steps to log into the Parent Portal:
- Using any internet browser, go to houstonisd.org/public
- Enter the Username that you created during registration
- Enter the Password that you created during registration

Student Applications

Teams
1. Click on the invite link.
2. When the browser opens, click on "Join on the web instead"
NOTE: For the best experience use Google Chrome
3. Enter your name.
4. Turn on your mic and camera if necessary. (If you browser asks for permission to use the mic and / or camera, select Yes)
5. You will enter the waiting room. Wait for the teacher / presenter to allow you into the meeting.

HUB
Students: Log in to the HUB from a remote (non-HISD) location
The HUB can be accessed from any device or location.
- Navigate to the HUB login page (see instructor for link)
- Select Log in with HISD account
- On the HISD Single Sign-On Service page, log in using the student's full email address and password.
- If you need assistance with the student's login information, please see the campus FastPass representative, who can assist with login credentials.
If you are still unable to login, please clear the browser cache, restart the computer and then login.

Clever / Digital Resources
How to Access Digital Resources
1. Once you are signed into the HUB, click on Digital Resources:
2. Digital Resources will take you to the Clever app. From here, you can select the resource that you need:

Student Email
- Open Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome
- In the address bar type the address for Office365 (please see an instructor for the link) and press Enter
- Type the student's full email address in the username field
- Type the student's password in the password field
- Click Sign in
- The system will ask you if you would like Office to remember your credentials Yes or No, choose whichever option you prefer.
- Select Outlook to open the student's email
- Click on the tiled square in the top left corner to view the Office 365 Apps

Optimizing performance of your HISD laptop
Defragment and Optimize Your Drives
Optimizing your hard drive on a regular basis helps your computer run more efficiently by cleaning out unnecessary files and clearing up storage space.
- In the search box on the taskbar, type Defragment, and select Defragment and Optimize Your Drivesfrom the list of results.
- Select the drive you want to optimize.
- When the process is complete, click Close
Note: You can also schedule this process to occur automatically (daily, weekly, monthly, etc)

Camera / microphone doesn't work in Teams
Laptop
If you're using an HP laptop and are unable to use your microphone/speaker/webcam with Microsoft Teams, try the following:
- Open Device Manager
- Select Sound, video, and game controllers
- Right click Conexant ISST Audio Device
- Click Uninstall, then click Uninstall again when prompted
- If you're also having issues with your Webcam, then continue to step 6. Otherwise, skip to step 8.
- Select Cameras
- Right click on your webcam (for example, HP HD Camera)
- Select uninstall, then click on uninstall again when prompted
- Restart your Device
- Windows will automatically detect and reinstall the appropriate drivers.
Teams should now detect the microphone or webcam
Chromebook
Method 1 – Universal Settings
- Open the Chrome Browser
- Click on the three dots (or green arrow) in the upper right corner
- Click on Settings
- Scroll down to Privacy & Security
- Click Site Settings
- Scroll down to Permissions
- The setting for Camera and Microphone should each read "Ask Before Processing". If not, click on this setting to activate it
Method 2 – Site Settings
This method may also be helpful if the universal settings don't work.
- Go to the web-based version of Teams via office365.houstonisd.org
- Click on the Lock to the left of the URL
- Click on Site Settings
- Scroll down to Permissions
- Camera and Microphone should be set to "Ask(default)"
- They can also be set to "Allow"
