House Bill 18 (HB18)

  • The HB18 legislation was signed into law June 2015 to bolster the college and career advising available to students in middle school.  The statewide initiative requires each school district to provide instruction to students in grade seven and eight in preparing for high school, college, and possible careers.

    HISD campuses may meet the HB18  requirement by:
    • Administering the Naviance Cluster Finder to 7th grade students
    • Administering the Naviance Career Key to 8th grade students

    Additional activities activities that may meet HB18 are, but not limited to, EMERGE presentations, supplemental college and career curriculum and college and career fairs.
