Bureaus

  • Research and Accountability consists of five bureaus, each with defined responsibilities.  

    Data Science and Operations

    Prepares data for analysis, extract/transform/load (ETL), and custom data requests. Services include cleaning, aggregating, and manipulating quantitative and qualitative data to perform advanced data analysis.

    District Data Analysis 

    Develops, publishes, and distributes descriptive and statistical information, including school data summaries and special requests.

    Student Performance and Accountability

    Prepares data for analysis, extract/transform/load (ETL), and custom data requests. Services include cleaning, aggregating, and manipulating quantitative and qualitative data to perform advanced data analysis.

    Program Evaluations

    Uses complex statistical analyses to conduct formative and summative evaluations of districtwide educational programs. Conduct research to assess the impact of program on student performance. Design evaluations using theory to guide program administrator to take an evidenced-based approach to decision-making. 

    Houston Education Research Consortium (HERC)

    Aims to produce research that is relevant, timely, and useful for school district decision-making to address educational inequality in Houston. Utilizes a partnership research model that involves both university researchers and district leaders to focus on research that informs education decision-makers directly.
