    Important Updates
    For Elementary Teachers: August 17-18th
       * Many Elementary sessions have changed to virtual. Before attending, click on the Session Catalog below.
       * There are no sessions at HELC. These sessions are virtual.
       * There are still in-person sessions at KBC and Chavez.
       * Training locations are designed to host in-person sessions only.
       * Please reach out to your campus administrator for guidance if joining virtual sessions.

    • This is a conference-style event, please arrive early to secure your seat.

    Audience
    : All Non-NES Core Teachers (English, R/LA, Math, Science, Social Studies)

    • NES or NES-Aligned Teachers should report to their campus for PLC and Planning.
    • K-8 campus teachers should attend the days for appropriate grade level – K-5 on Elementary and 6-8 on Secondary.
    • Campus Administrators and other non-Teacher (i.e. Nurse, Counselor) employees are not required to attend.

    Know Before You Go

    • New hires may not have a HISD ID badge. They can bring a copy of any HISD document (i.e. HR hire letter) referencing their name.
    • HISD badges must be displayed for current employees at all sites.
    • Employees should bring their own lunch/snacks, to all training locations (Monday-Friday). Lunch is on your own.
    • As the parking lot gets full, there will be HISD shuttles circulating the parking lot.
    • For the Early Childhood training parking will be available at Chavez HS and Barnett Stadium.
    • Participants will sign in and out in session rooms.

    Registration

    • Non-NES core content teachers should register for this curriculum conference by grade level for each day planned to attend to receive session updates.
    • Depending on the session, attendance may be in-person or virtual. 

    Resources

    • A printed conference session list will be provided.
    • Participants should bring their personal ‘toolkit’ for use during training and lite snacks.
    • Please bring a fully-charged laptop.
    • Wi-fi and HISD portal access is available at KBC. Participants can check emails and handle other items during breaks.
    • Temperature varies, please plan accordingly.

    Parking and Maps

    • Click HERE for directions to Chavez High School (HISD shuttle bus service will be provided from Barnett Stadium to Chavez HS)

    • Parking is available in various lots. Be mindful not to park behind the building in the blue lot (for KBC staff).
    • Shuttles will be available as needed.

    • Lunch is on your own.
    • Vending machines may be available.
    • Refrigerators and microwaves will not be available for use.
