On June 9th the School Board will decide whether Monday, June 20th will be approved as an HISD district holiday. To ensure students receive a complete STEM Camp experience, Friday, June 17th will be added as a STEM Camp day for students and staff in lieu of Monday, June 20th, 2022.
Houston Independent School District (HISD) STEM Summer Camp
June 15-29 (3-week camp session)
Actual start time depends on campus location selected and will be between 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
The HISD STEM Summer Camp was created to provide STEM-based curriculum activities for elementary, middle, and high school students. Our three-week program for elementary (3rd-5th) and middle school students introduces them to the collaborative world of coding, LEGO Spike Prime robotics, and a unique field experience.
The camps will be held at the following HISD campuses:
- Lawson Middle School
- Hartman Middle School*
- Holland Middle School
- Forest Brook Middle School
- Revere Middle School
- Clifton Middle School
- Mandarin Immersion Magnet School*
- Hamilton Middle School*
*Note: Hartman Middle School, Hamilton Middle School, and Mandarin Immersion Magnet School are the three campuses that will host the High School Summer STEM Camp Sections.
High-School camp students will learn the fundamentals of design, story mapping, recording, publishing, and video promotion through a partnership with Adobe and utilization of their Adobe Pixar in a Box curriculum. Students will interact with a professional artist and experts in the entertainment industry culminating in a final video project. This camp will only be offered at three school locations.
The camp is provided at no cost to current HISD students and will be led by HISD certified teachers. To be eligible, students need to be in good academic standing and follow the application process.
- Student or Parent/Guardian completes the online Student Application Form by the deadline of May 24.
- A teacher recommendation form is automatically sent to a current teacher via email.
- After recommendation is received, the parent/guardian has to confirm attendance and an email with camp documents will follow
Only completed applications will be considered on a first come first serve basis. A completed application will consist of an online completed submission plus a completed teacher recommendation form. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Applicants will receive a notification on the status of their submission no later than May 24, 2022.
