• TELPAS  

    TELPAS listening and speaking domains will be assessed using an online format beginning spring 2018.  Test items target the 4 TELPAS proficiency levels: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced and Advanced High. To interact with online listening items, students will be using “click on the correct answer” and drag-and-drop functionalities, as well as responding to multiple choice questions for passage-based and non-passage-based items. Students will need to wear headsets. 

    Listening:
    Heavy on academic language. Students must have listening STAMINA to be able to listen for at least 5 minutes.  Students are allowed to use scratch paper. 

    Students will be asked to identify and locate information in a picture (map skills) (noun/vocabulary match; adjective-noun-preposition), select correct response from 4 pictures; select the correct picture from 4 audio clips and determine which clip matches the given picture; listen to articles, dialogues, follow step by step directions, and must support responses with evidence.

    Speaking:
    Students will be given up to 90 seconds of recording time to respond.  They will be given two attempts; however, they will not be able to choose between first and second attempt. The second attempt is the final answer. 

    Students will describe a picture, give detailed step by step directions, how-to, problem/solution; predict based on picture or story; make personal connections to a story give an opinion; explain an opinion.
