Where can I find information for Co-Teacher procedures, lesson plans and documentation information?
Lesson Planning should occur with the General Education Teacher. For an outline of HISD expectations for all SPED teachers, including Co-Teachers, see the HISD Expectations for Special Educations Teachers document, located in each Service folder within the OSES Campus Instructional Support (2020-2021) HUB course. Sample documentation forms can be found in the Co-Teacher folder within the OSES HUB course.

Where can I find guidance for co-teaching in the virtual setting?
Register in OneSource for the PD course offering The Power of Two: Co-Teach Facilitation Amid COVID-19 and Virtual Learning. Also, enroll in the OSES Campus Instructional Support (2020-2021) HUB course and access the resources within both the Co-Teacher folder and the Professional Development folder. Both are located within the Resources folder.

How can I register for Reading by Design, and Adapting Reading by Design for SDI?
If you would like to be trained in Reading by Design, please contact your school Principal and your Dyslexia Area Team Lead. The list of campus staff that have been trained or the school Principal designated for training are listed here: https://www.houstonisd.org/Page/160316. If your name is on the list and you have not been trained, please contact the Dyslexia Area Team Lead.
If you are interested in Dyslexia Department Monthly Meetings, and EasyIEP View Only Access or OSES Trainings about Adapting Reading by Design for SDI, please check the flyers in our virtual office for info about dates, times and One Source codes: Curriculum Specialist Virtual Office. We are also available to review data and help you create a plan for adapting Reading by Design to Specially Designed Instruction. You can contact us on Teams Chat, Reading by Design Teams Channel, or via email which is also found on the Virtual Office.

How do we address private evaluations and or testing?
Information regarding evaluations for parentally placed private school students is located on the OSES Child Find page at https://www.houstonisd.org/Page/167808. Should you need further guidance, please contact your assigned evaluation team or email ChildFind@houstonisd.org.

Who do I contact in transportation if students are not being picked up?
Reach out to the Terminal in which the route comes from. Transportation customer service number is 713-556-9400. Inform your program specialist for additional support.

How do you know if the students had an IEP Amendment?
If an IEP Amendment- Special Education Emergency Contingency Plan was completed and the parent agreed, it can be found in the ‘Documents’ section of EasyIEP for each student. It is attached to the corresponding ARD/IEP.

How is ESY determined?
The need for ESY services must be documented from formal or informal evaluations provided by the district or the parents. If a student requires a significant amount of time to recoup acquired critical skills, then the ARD
committee must discuss whether the student needs extended educational or related services during school breaks. If the loss of acquired critical skills would be particularly severe or substantial, or if such loss results, or may reasonably be expected to result in immediate physical harm to the student or to others. ESY services may be justified without consideration of the period of time for recoupment of such skills. -
In EasyIEP can you apply the parent response if the parent agrees at the end of the ARD meeting?
Yes, if the parent agrees to waive (the 5 school days for response) the parent agreement can be applied, and you must finalize the ARD/IEP meeting.

What are Extended School Year (ESY) services?
Extended School Year (ESY) services are special education and related services that are provided to eligible students with disabilities beyond the regular school year in accordance with their IEP (Individual Education Program). The need for ESY services must be determined on an individual basis by the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee.
