Ms. Marina O. Garcia
Marina O. Garcia moved from El Salvador during the Salvadoran Civil War. She attended and graduated from Austin High School. Marina is the proud mother of three young adults and the grandmother of two wonderful children. She studied Interdisciplinary Studies and Spanish at the University of Houston - Downtown. Marina has worked at the Houston Independent School District for many years. She first started in the District as a school secretary, and eventually transferred to the Curriculum Department. Prior to joining the Special Education team Marina was in the Parent and Community Assistance Department as a Parent Liaison. Marina has always enjoyed working with parents and their children to address individual concerns and act as a guide as they attempt to understand and navigate various special education or school district guidelines or procedure. In her free time, Marina loves to go to the beach, and enjoys working on DIY projects. In addition, Marina enjoys traveling for pleasure and studying abroad. Marina is enthusiastic about being a part of the Special Education Department where she can continue to assist parents, the community, and the students of Houston Independent School District.
