The Librarian of the Year (LOY) award is designed to recognize and celebrate excellence in job performance, professionalism, and outstanding service to the school library media program. The Librarian of the Year award was founded on the principal of recognizing outstanding library educators for their commitment to the education of children, advocacy for literacy, the profession of school librarianship, and serving as a role model for colleagues and students. The LOY serves as a model for outstanding digital learning and/or library services. The award is in partnership with Houston Association of School Librarians (HASL).
