Dyad Student Travel

  • The Student Dyad Travel Program offers 7th- and 8th-grade students at NES campuses the opportunity to embark on enriching journeys that deepen their cultural understanding through visits to historic landmarks and immersive explorations of regional history, politics, and culture. With full-service support from HISD, students receive guidance from the start—including assistance with obtaining passports for international travel—so they’re fully prepared for the adventure ahead. Once they arrive at their destination, carefully planned, full-day itineraries ensure they experience the best each location offers. Travel isn’t just about seeing new places—it’s about building independence, resilience, and a global perspective.

"One of the most memorable experiences for me was our visit to the capital. I found the opportunity to admire the stunning paintings and statues to be particularly captivating, and I was especially thrilled to see the impressive statue of Abraham Lincoln. Seeing it in person was awe-inspiring, as it appeared even larger than the photos I had previously seen on social media."

  • HISD’s Dyad Student Travel program opens doors to incredible opportunities for eligible seventh- and eighth-grade students to embark on unforgettable, all-expenses-paid educational adventures!

This year, eligible eighth graders can explore Costa Rica or Panama for five days, while seventh graders will visit historic cities like Washington, D.C., or Boston for three days. These trips are scheduled to take place from late May through June, allowing students to expand their horizons and create lasting memories. Participants from 27 NES middle schools will travel with dedicated staff chaperones, ensuring a safe and enriching experience. Depending on interest, there may be multiple trips per destination and grade level. Eligibility is limited to those with a 92% attendance record. This criterion ensures that participants are dedicated and engaged in regular school activities.

HISD is committed to making these experiences accessible to all eligible students, covering all travel costs—including passport application fees for eighth graders traveling internationally. We’re excited to help our students take the next step in their journey of learning and discovery!
