General Program Requirements: To help migrant students overcome the challenges of mobility, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, and other difficulties associated with a migratory life, in order to succeed in school, and to successfully transition to post-secondary education or employment.
Services Provided for Qualified Students:- School supplies and uniform clothing vouchers (depending on the availability of funds)
- A Bright Beginning, a center-based program for parents of children ages 3-4
- Parent meetings
- Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)
- Service coordination for migrant children aged 3-21
- Coordination with other summer programs
- Tutorials for identified priority elementary and secondary school students
- Monitoring of academic achievement
- Summer enrichment programs for elementary and secondary students
For high school students (grades 9-12), the following are available:
- Vouchers for night and weekend high school tuition classes at Houston Community College
- University of Texas at Austin correspondence classes
- Online and credit-by-exam courses
- Vouchers for summer school class tuition at Houston Community College (depending on availability of funds)
- Migrant scholarships
- College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP)
