Rules and Enrollment Standards
Welcome to the Houston ISD Police Department's Training Division. It is our goal to provide individuals with the highest quality of training possible. Recognizing that law enforcement needs change constantly, we aim to stay well-informed of such changes. The training staff of the Houston ISD Police Department is comprised of committed professionals who strive to ensure that the advanced training we provide continues to be vital in the law enforcement profession.
Additionally, it is the intent of the Houston ISD Police Department to promote collaboration while developing harmony of purpose within the department as well as with other agencies involved in the management of criminal justice.
Class Attendance: Houston ISD Police Officers have priority in class enrollment. No absences will be permitted unless excused by the training coordinator, or his/her designee, and then only if provisions for makeup exist. Tardiness will not be tolerated and will be subject to make up. Classes are subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control. If a student needs to cancel, we ask that notification is given at least three (3) days prior to class when possible.
Class Attire: Agency uniform or appropriate civilian attire (polo style shirts) is suitable. No sleeveless shirts, t-shirts, shorts and/or overalls permitted. Appropriate footwear are to be worn at all times (no flip flops, tennis shoes or sandals) will be permitted.
Photographic/Recording Equipment: Unless prior arrangements are made with the training coordinator, no photographic or recording equipment will be used by students.
Smoking: Smoking is forbidden on any portion of district property. Students will use designated areas outside of property lines.
Enrollment Standards: Prior to attending any Houston ISD Police Department sponsored training for TCOLE credit the individual must be able to provide proof of:
Written documentation that the person is currently licensed by the commission:
Meaning the students are in good standing with TCOLE.
The individual may or may not be currently employed with an agency at the time the class is taken.
