Addressing the Safety and Security Committee
The Safety and Security Committee of the Houston Independent School District welcomes members of the community to speak about subjects on the agenda for the committee meeting at which the community member is speaking.
Please be advised that these are in-person meetings. Based on current local COVID-19 guidance, the wearing of face masks in district facilities is optional. The district will continue to limit access to its board auditorium to allow for appropriate social distancing. Entry will be permitted on a first-come basis. Doors will open to the public 15 minutes before a scheduled public meeting.
VIEWING A MEETING
Each meeting notice contains links for viewing that specific meeting live and afterwards as a recording. The notices are listed below.
Speakers should register by sending an email to BoardServices@houstonisd.org beginning after a meeting notice is posted and ending at 12:00 p.m. the day before the meeting. Speakers must be present when their name is called.
In addition, ALL handouts must be emailed to BoardServices@houstonisd.org no later than 12:00 p.m. the day before the meeting.
- TIME LIMIT: As with HISD board meetings, speakers are limited to up to two minutes, regardless of the number of items for which they have registered. NOTE: Two minutes is approximately 300 words.
- Stay on topic and refrain from naming individuals, especially students, as their identity is protected under law.
- No abusive statements or threats of confrontation are permitted.
