Addressing the Board at Board Meetings

  • The Board of Education welcomes members of the community to speak on subjects related to the school district. Citizens can address the board in one of two ways:

    • Speakers to Agenda Items - During an Agenda Review meeting and the regular board meeting, people may speak about items that the board will vote on during its regular monthly meeting.
    • Hearing of the Community - During the regular monthly board meeting, people may speak about a subject not covered by an item on the regular monthly meeting agenda.

    How to Register to Speak

    People must register in advance to speak at Board of Education meetings.

    • To comment on a specific agenda item, please complete this online form no later than 9:30 a.m. on the day of the Agenda Review meeting and the regular monthly meeting.
    • To speak during the Hearing of the Community, please register online here no later than 9:30 a.m. on the day of the regular monthly meeting.

    People who wish to register in person may do so by printing out and completing this form for the Hearing of the Community or this form for Agenda Item Speakers and returning it to the Office of Board Services (4400 West 18th Street, 77092). They may also fax the completed form to 713-556-6115 or e-mail to Please note that the deadlines listed above still apply.  ALL handouts must be turned in no later than 9:30 a.m. the day of the meeting.
