Other Meetings

  • Other meetings include meetings of some groups other than the Board of Education and its committees. You will need the free Acrobat Reader program to view the notices.

    NOTE: All board meetings are posted for public viewing as required by the Texas Open Meetings Act.  The board may go into closed (executive) session at any time during a meeting to consider matters regarding personnel, real estate, security, school children, negotiated contracts, consultation, and/or legal issues, as permitted under the Texas Open Meetings Act.

    The Hattie Mae White (HMW) Educational Support Center is open and observing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. At this time, the Manuel Rodriguez Board Auditorium remains closed for public meetings.


    Each meeting notice contains a link for viewing that specific meeting. For those meetings held with Microsoft Teams (rather than Zoom), instructions for how to use the links are:


    Speakers should submit written comments which may be read publicly by a member of the district’s administration if there is a problem with Zoom of if the meeting was held with Microsoft Teams. Speakers should also leave a telephone number when registering.

    To submit written comments, speakers should send an email to BoardServices@houstonisd.org or in accordance with the specific meeting notice.

    In addition, ALL handouts must be emailed to BoardServices@houstonisd.org or other recipient in accordance with the specific meeting notice.

    The rules regarding comments are the same as if the meeting were held in person.

    • TIME LIMIT: As with HISD board meetings, speakers are limited to up to two minutes, regardless of the number of items for which they have registered. NOTE: Two minutes is approximately 300 words.
    • Stay on topic and refrain from naming individuals, especially students, as their identity is protected under law.
    • No abusive statements or threats of confrontation are permitted.
