ABOUT THE WALDMAN LEGAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Waldman Legal Group is a Houston-based law firm dedicated to serving injury victims and their loved ones – in both English and Spanish. Managing Partner Steve Waldman has more than 40 years of experience and has been Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1986. The Waldman Legal Scholarship will aim to encourage and support bilingual (English and Spanish) high school seniors to attend a two- or four-year college/university.

Scholarship Information

Scholarship Eligibility
Students must meet the following eligibility requirements in order to apply:
- Must be an HISD high school senior.
- Be fully bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Must have submitted an application to a college, university, or two-year community college program (proof of enrollment will be required to release the scholarship to the institution if selected).
- Must have completed the FAFSA or TASFA.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in high school

Scholarship Application Requirements
- The application must be completed in its entirety.
- An official high school transcript must be submitted.
- One letter of recommendation from an HISD teacher, HISD counselor, community leader, or manager from a job or internship where the student's character can be effectively discussed. An additional one may also be submitted.
- Proof of admission to a college or university, if selected.
- An essay (no more than one page double spaced, provided in both English and Spanish) addressing the following prompt:
- Waldman Legal fights for the rights of victims. We believe it is important for victims to take action and not let others take advantage of them. Our motto, ¡No se deje! reflects those values. We ask that you consider a lesson you have learned, either from your personal experience or from the life of someone close to you, where they responded to a difficult situation. Include the words “¡No se deje!” in your essays.
