HISD’s partnership with Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages began with the goal of supporting students who faced overwhelming obstacles with strength and perseverance. The Superintendent Scholars Awards began during the 2017-2018 academic school year and have since provided scholarships to 140 HISD seniors so that they can achieve their goals after high school.

A committee from each high school nominates one senior from their campus to receive this scholarship. The nomination forms are submitted to the Interim Superintendent, Dr. Grenita Lathan, who then reviews and selects a group of students to receive a larger scholarship.
