    Gifted and Talented (GT) assessments help identify students for GT programs. For school year 2023-24, all students in Grade 2 will be tested.

  • SAT/PSAT

    The SAT is an assessment created and administered by the College Board and has been used as a college admissions test since the mid-1920s. Students may take the SAT for admission into a two- or four-year university, obtain scholarships, and/or assess their readiness for freshman-level college coursework.

    The ACT test provides schools and districts with the data necessary to position students for success after high school. Test scores reflect what students have learned throughout high school and provide colleges and universities with excellent information for recruiting, advising, placement, and retention.

  •  TELPAS

    TELPAS

    The Texas Education Agency (TEA) designed the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) and TELPAS Alternate to assess the progress that emergent bilingual (EB) students make in learning the English language.

  • STAAR

    The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) program, first implemented in spring 2012, includes annual assessments for: mathematics at grades 3–8, reading language arts (RLA) at grades 3-8, science at grades 5 and 8, social studies at grade 8, and end-of-course (EOC) assessments for Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and U.S History.

    Report all incidents immediately by calling a Summative Coordinator via Teams or by calling (713) 349-7460.

    For network connectivity and power issues, contact the HISD Technology Service Desk at 713-892-SERV (7378) and complete a Testing Disruption Form. The Service Desk is open Monday through Friday from 6:30am until 5:00pm CST excluding HISD approved holidays. If necessary, the Service Desk will contact the HISD Network Operations Center (NOC).
