What is MAP Growth?
MAP Growth measures what your student knows and how they are growing academically, allowing you to track your student’s progress throughout the school year and across multiple years. MAP Growth also provides teachers and families with the ability to understand how the student’s performance compares to their peers.
Teachers can use MAP Growth scores to monitor the growth of individual students and develop classroom-level strategies for equitable instruction that help maximize every student’s learning potential. Principals and administrators can use the scores to see the performance and progress of a grade level, school, or the entire district. -

Practice Tests and Videos
Students can try Practice Tests and watch videos to become familiar with MAP Growth tests. The link appears on the student log-in page (test.mapnwea.org), or you can direct students to the following website on any supported device and browser (excluding Internet Explorer):
From the Student Resources, they can access MAP Practice Tests. These tests include about 5 questions, depending on the grade, and do not provide a score or adaptive behavior. You can also open the practice tests directly from this website:

How can I monitor which students still need to test?
We recommend that campuses take a similar approach to attendance on STAAR assessment days. Each teacher will receive an attendance list early in the morning and they will indicate which students are absent. Students who are identified as absent will be selected for a make-up testing day within the window.
There are reports within the NWEA MAP platform that may assist, but the data will not populate in the platform until the day after the assessment has been completed. Below is a link to a quick infographic with the information on those two reports:

MAP Reading Fluency
What is MAP Reading Fluency?
MAP Reading Fluency is an online adaptive reading assessment for students who are learning to read. It measures foundational reading skills, with an emphasis on oral fluency.
Students read aloud into the computer or iPad using a headset-mounted microphone. Patented speech scoring software scores the oral reading samples and teachers get detailed information about student performance in terms of words-correct-per-minute, decoding accuracy, and passage comprehension. Pre-readers are assessed on early literacy skills including letter knowledge, phonics, phonemic awareness, listening comprehension, and picture vocabulary. Teachers get reports of performance on each subtest and are able to listen to, annotate, and optionally hand-score students’ recorded reading.
For more information, refer to Setting up for Testing and Testing and Proctoring Students in the MAP Help Center.
