AP Calculus ABBuilding enduring mathematical understanding requires students to grasp the why and how of mathematics, in addition to mastering the necessary procedures and skills. To foster this deeper level of learning, AP® Calculus is designed to develop mathematical knowledge conceptually, guiding students to not only connect topics and representations throughout each course, but also apply strategies and techniques to accurately solve diverse types of problems.
The curriculum for AP Calculus AB is equivalent to that of a first-semester college calculus course, devoted to topics in differential and integral calculus.AP Calculus BCBuilding enduring mathematical understanding requires students to grasp the why and how of mathematics, in addition to mastering the necessary procedures and skills. The curriculum for AP Calculus BC is equivalent to that of a first-semester college calculus course AND the subsequent single-variable calculus course. Calculus BC is an extension of Calculus AB, rather than an enhancement.AP StatisticsThe purpose of the AP course in statistics is to introduce students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing and drawing conclusions from data. Students are exposed to four broad conceptual themes:- Exploring Data: Describing patterns and departures from patterns.
- Sampling and Experimentation: Planning and conducting a study.
- Anticipating Patterns: Exploring random phenomena using probability and simulation.
- Statistical Inference: Estimating population parameters and testing hypotheses.
