The Basics

AP Social Studies courses are introductory college-level courses that allow students to cultivate their understanding of history, geography, government, economics, and psychology. Students learn to analyze data, text-based sources, and historical sources as they explore a multitude of topics related to their course. In AP Social Studies courses, students develop their argumentation, writing, analysis, and comprehension skills. The coursework is designed to prepare students for college-level work and those students who pass their May AP exm can earn college credit for the course.
